High School Sailing at Bristol

Open to all high school and middle school students.

Warm water, great coaching, beginner through expert.

  • What: small group high school style practice in 420s for grades 7 - 12.

  • Start date: Monday, September 21

  • End date: About October 14

  • Monday, &/or Wednesday 3-6 pm at Bristol YC

  • Richard Feeny as head coach.

  • Open - Sailors need not be a member of an established team - all high school and middle school students are invited to participate.
     

  • Early arrival is encouraged. Beginners welcome.
     

  • Intermediate and advanced sailors also welcome and will learn to team race.
     

  • Includes Friday Night Lights 420 racing in Bristol. Email Richard Feeny to reserve dates for FNL.


 

Who are the Coaches?

Richard Feeny will be the coach Tuesday-Friday.

Youth National Coach and fast-boat enthusiast.

Sailing in the Fall is warmer and requires less sailing gear! Students will need:

- Personal Flotation Device (PFD)

- Spray Gear

- fleece top and hat (when it's cold)

- Sailing footwear

- Hat and sunglasses (optional but recommended)

Boats provided by East Bay Sailing Foundation

COVID Policy. 

  • practices are caped at 15 people in accordance with State and CDC guidelines

  • Mandatory Health Screening for staff, students, and visitors each day

  • FACE MASKS are required whenever on BYC property. It is permissible to remove face masks when sailing
